The Waco City Council and Waco Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) have both, separately endorsed Texas’ privately developed high-speed rail project that would cut a Dallas-Houston commute down to 90 minutes.

Both call the project an economic catalyst and efficient way to reduce traffic congestion.

The MPO, which coordinates transportation planning activities for all of McLennan County, passed a resolution of support Thursday.

In April, the Waco City Council approved a similar resolution supporting the North Texas-to-Houston passenger line, calling it a safe and productive alternative to Texas's growing traffic demands.
