A local developer is planning a $50 million mixed-use project just steps from an East Austin light rail station.

A city permit needed to start work on Cityline at MLK Station, which will be built on 4 acres at the northeast corner of East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Alexander Avenue, is expected to be approved this summer, according to Cityline Companies LLC.

Capital Metro’s MLK MetroRail station is nearby, at 1719 Alexander Ave.

The development should be completed by late 2017, Cityline Companies said this week.

Cityline at MLK Station will have 11,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, 134,000 square feet of creative office space and 22 townhomes.
