December 7, 2015 - (Dallas) Amtrak's Texas Eagle service has a lot to celebrate and you get the prize. Starting in January when you purchase one regular (adult) rail fare on the daily Texas Eagle you get to take a companion along for free.

So what's the cause for celebration?  It's a big sigh of relief at the end of construction work on the railroad. Over the past two years, Texas Eagle trains have incurred many trips of busing or delays due to the Tower 55 project at Fort Worth, High Speed Rail construction between Chicago and St. Louis, and significant weather events in the region served by this route. It's enough to make a rider want to scream at times. To celebrate completion of track upgrades and anticipated reduction in track delays for 2016, the Texas Eagle Local Revenue Management team, in conjunction with the Texas Eagle Route Director and Amtrak Central Division Marketing, came up with a special promotion for the January-February-March 2016 travel period.

The offer is valid for one free companion rail fare with the purchase of one regular (adult) rail fare.  Purchase must be at least one day in advance of travel, with sale beginning January 5-March 15, and travel between January 6-March 20, 2016.  Fares may be upgraded to sleeper upon payment of accommodation charge.  The promotion is valid for travel only on the Texas Eagle, except NOT valid for local travel between Chicago and St. Louis, or for local travel within San Antonio and Los Angeles.  Fares are subject to availability; seating is limited.  Please refer to discount code V344.

Mark it on your calendar for January 5, the first day you can use discount code V344 and start riding January 6 with your companion. So how about a trip to Austin or San Antonio, a visit to Dallas, fort Worth or Little Rock or a trip up the arch in St. Louis? Enjoy the trip!
