A representative from Texas Central Railway sought to drum up support for the private company's high-speed rail project Wednesday during an economic outlook briefing hosted by the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce.

The briefing, which focused on transportation projects including the upcoming Texas 249 -- also known as the Aggie Highway -- and the proposed high-speed rail, featured Texas Department of Transportation Director of Transportation Chad Bohne and Texas Central Railway representative David Hagy.

During the luncheon at the Hilton College Station, attendees had the opportunity to hear presentations from and ask questions of the two men regarding the respective projects.

Texas Central's controversial high-speed rail project received the bulk of attention as Hagy sought to address some of the common concerns that have been raised by citizens and landowners.

Among the specific concerns, Hagy said he and his colleagues at Texas Central "absolutely understand and totally expect" the worries voiced by landowners about the use of eminent domain for the project.
