CONROE, Texas - The man who represents the eastern portion of the Brazos Valley wants Texas' attorney general to give his opinion on eminent domain when it comes to a proposed high speed rail line that would run through his district.

Congressman Kevin Brady (R-District 8) made the request to a number of Texas House and Senate members in a letter Friday. He wants them to ask Attorney General Ken Paxton for his take on the issue of eminent domain.

"Taking property against a landowner’s will, especially land that may have been in the family for generations, is a serious matter," Brady wrote. "Because this is a state project, I am requesting your leadership in determining if Texas Central Partners has state eminent domain power. I question that it does."
