Driving a "golden spike" marked the start of construction on the latest industrial-served rail park in Texas, this one in the piney woods of East Texas at Longview.

Executives and team members of Custom Inc., a logistics company, joined customers, partners and local dignitaries to drive a “Golden Spike” into a new rail spur marking the beginning of construction for the company’s latest Multimodal Distribution Facility in Longview, Texas. The facility, capable of transloading thousands of railcars and trucks per year with a max capacity over 630 cars, is located on a 175-acre tract that will interchange with Union Pacific Railroad. The site, near Interstate-20, is expected to be operating within 12 months. 

Speakers at the Longview Multimodal Distribution Facility Golden Spike ceremony include David L. Stevenson, Owner of Custom; David A. Stevenson, Executive Vice President of Custom, Dan McLaughlin, Assistant Vice President – Marketing & Sales Operations for Union Pacific Railroad, and Gregg County Judge Bill Stoudt.

The Longview Multimodal Distribution Facility will have equipment needed to move bulk and packaged product between rail cars and truck trailers for both first- and last-mile shipments. The facility will offer storage and warehousing services, hopper transfers, rail car/trailer washing and more. It will support industries covering everything from packaging and plastics recycling to chemicals.
