Local leaders from across the Brazos Valley traveled to Washington, D.C., last week as part of the Brazos Valley Council of Governments (BVCOG) to discuss regional priorities, including infrastructure, broadband access, and opposition to the Texas Central high-speed rail project.

During the visit, officials met with members of Congress, including Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX), who co-chairs the bipartisan House DOGE Caucus, focused on streamlining government operations and saving taxpayer money.

Officials say they believe the meetings went well with Rep. Sessions reaffirming his strong opposition to the rail proposal.

“Yesterday, I had the opportunity to meet with the Brazos Valley Council of Governments to discuss key issues facing the TX-17 region, including limited access to broadband and concerns over government overreach with the high-speed rail project,” Sessions said. “I remain firmly opposed to the high-speed rail proposal."
