Today, dignitaries, employees, public officials and over 30 U.S. military veterans from both Greenbrier Companies and TTX, the nation's largest railcar pooling company, were on hand for a private unveiling of five brand-new boxcars, adorned with a bold stars-and-stripes paint scheme, on display at the Cleburne, Texas shops.

The rail cars have been designed to commemorate the historic milestone of the 250th anniversary of the United States this year.

The patriotic railcars will soon be traversing the nation, serving as a national tribute. TTX CEO Thomas Wells said "these boxcars will be travelling millions of miles across America moving freight and supporting commerce in communities large and small. They will serve as a moving tribute to America's history and to the people that keep our transportation network running every day."

Federal Railroad Administrator David Fink, speaking at the railcar event, said "My experience has shaped how I view and understand freight and passenger rail. The U.S. rail system is, of course, unrivaled worldwide but we still have some work to do when it comes to passenger rail." He did not go into detail on what 'work' will be required for passenger rail. Fink did give a shout out today to the veterans attending the event. "The railroad industry is definitely supportive of the veterans."

Lorie L. Tekorius, Greenbrier Chief Executive Officer & President acknowledged the employees present at the event that have served in the Armed Forces. "Your commitment and sacrifice makes celebrations like this possible." She pointed to the backdrop of the stars and stripes painted cars, noting that the boxcar has remained the iconic workhorse of the U.S. economy for more than 150 years.

Admiral Thomas Fargo, a Greenbrier board member and retired Commander-in-Chief of the U.S. Pacific Fleet and Commander of the Naval Forces of the Central Command noted that "railroads helped unite the continent, powered the industrial revolution, and sustained the economic strength that allowed our nation to grow into a preeminent global leader. From steel and grain to automobiles and energy, freight rail has been one of the quiet backbones of America prosperity. The companies that design, build and manage the fleets of railroads crossing this continent are a vital part of that story."
