Looking for something special to do this holiday season with the kids? What could be more fun for the young ones, or those who haven't outgrown their love of trains, than a day out on a train.

There are a number of special events now running across the state. We've put together a list of special Christmas-themed train events ranging from Polar Express to Santa's North Pole Express so you can easily access them. Click on the link to check times and availability.

Texas State Railroad - Palestine - Polar Express

How about a relaxing train ride through the piney woods of East Texas on the Polar Express. This train departs the Palestine, Texas station and you can ride in your pajamas! Train members recite from the children's book and the train ride features hot chocolate, cookies and a sing-along.







Grapevine Vintage Railroad - Santa's North Pole Express

Santa's elves greet you as you board and you'll enjoy Mrs. Claus' cookies and milk in a souvenir mug on the 45 minute journey. Kids get a photo with Santa at the general store. This event sells out quickly each year. 








Galveston Railroad Museum - Polar Express

The Polar Express is back on Galveston Island at the railroad museum for another year. Kids and parents can book a stay at an island hotel in conjunction with the event. 









Victory Camp, Alvin - Christmas Train

Ride through the winter wonderland of lights on open air train coaches. Also features an elf show and Santa's Speedway go-karts.










Hermann Park, Houston - Holiday train

This train ride also offers paddle boats and a carousel











Austin Steam Train Association - North Pole Flyer

You leave from the historic 1912 Bertram Depot and onboard enjoy cookies and cocoa, balloon twisters, caroling and a reading from the North Pole Flyer book. 2 hour trip with a photo.
