The Port of Beaumont will now be able to secure three vital infrastructure projects to maintain and expand its operations thanks to an $18 million federal grant.

Representatives from the U.S. Department of Transportation, which awarded the grant, joined local public officials and administrators of the Port of Beaumont on Friday for a presentation ceremony.

The grant will help the port fund the reconstruction of three wharves at its Main Street Terminal, add 16,000 feet of track along with a new rail exchange and replace a deteriorated grain dock facility. The estimated cost for the design and construction of all three projects is about $101 million.
