It's a new date and a new, larger venue for the 18th Annual Southwestern Rail Conference, the premier all-rail event held every year in Texas.

Hosted by Texas Rail Advocates, the Southwestern Rail Conference will be held Thursday, March 31 and Friday, April 1 in Dallas at the iconic Campbell Centre, home to the twin gold towers famous from the TV Series "Dallas". Registration is now open for the only rail conference in Texas and the Southwest that discusses both freight and passenger rail issues from experts in their field.

"Previous to the pandemic we've been in a sold-out situation at our previous hotel so now we've moved a bit more uptown on North Central Expressway in Dallas to the Double Tree Hotel by Hilton at Campbell Centre," according to Texas Rail Advocates President Peter LeCody. "The Double Tree offers us more room to spread out comfortably and additional seating capacity for the rail conference. Attendees will have more room for distancing and our Thursday evening dinner will be in the 21st floor Skyline Ballroom with expansive views of Dallas."

Presenters for the 18th annual rail event will be posted to the conference website page in the coming days. As in previous conferences, speakers and panels will include those from government transportation agencies, Class 1 and Short Line Railroads, passenger rail providers, rail analysts, transit agencies, equipment/technology providers as well as a legislative outlook at the state and national level on rail issues.

A special room rate will be available for attendees at the Doubletree Hotel at Campbell Centre and the information will be posted on the conference website page.

Several segments of the conference are being reserved for lively and informative topics of the day and presenters are invited to send a synopsis of their topic presentation to TRA Director Karl Ziebarth at this email address by December 15th for consideration.

Registration is open with an Early Bird discounted rate which is capacity controlled.

A special conference rate will be offered to a select number of students currently enrolled in Rail Transportation Engineering and Railway Transportation studies at the college and university level. Contact TRA President Peter LeCody at peter@texasrailadvocates.org.
