Eleven Brownsville non-profit organizations are the recipients of $ 77,500 in contributions this season from OmniTRAX, the transportation affiliate of The Broe Group, and its affiliate railroad, Brownsville & Rio Grande International Railway, LLC (BRG).
As part of short line operator OmniTRAX’s network-wide Good Neighbor Program, OmniTRAX and BRG collaborated with the Port of Brownsville to identify a broad collection of local nonprofit recipients that provide critical resources for the people of of the Rio Grande Valley city.
“Part of being a good neighbor is joining our local partners to serve our community. These eleven organizations lift up our neighbors and provide important community services. We are proud to help expand their reach throughout Brownsville,” said BRG President Shariff Gonnella.
BRG operates 45 miles of rail at the Port of Brownsville, keeping the supply lines moving for steel, agricultural products, fuel products, and other commodities. The BRG commenced operations in 1984 when the Brownsville Navigation District (BND) reclaimed Port railroad operations from the Missouri Pacific Railroad.
The BRG donations are part of OmniTRAX’s network-wide community outreach that annually provides funding for meals and essential services that reach more than one million neighbors in need.
