Despite calls from rural elected officials to kill a $10 billion dollar plus project to bring high speed rail between North Texas and Houston, the company that leads the charge announced even more support in recent days.
In a news release, Texas Central Railway announced that almost 15,000 emails have been sent by the public to Texas legislators in support of the 240 mile long project that would link two of the largest population centers in the state. The TCR Facebook page recently passed the 30,000 fan mark and the bullet train project has received numerous endorsements.
According to TCR "many news outlets are taking notice and sharing the optimism for Texas’ future and recognizing the benefits of connecting communities. They see a project that will drive economic growth, putting Texas on the world stage." Those include Thrillist Travel, the Waco Tribune-Herald and Dallas Mayor Rawlings on WFAA’s (Channel 8) Daybreak program
Texas Central asked that interested citizens let elected officials know about support for high speed rail by visiting ww.TexasCentral.com/Advocate or text RAIL to 52886 for updates and action alerts.
