Summer rail season goes full steam ahead starting May 26th at the Texas State Railroad, one of the treasures of railroading in the Lone Star state. Rare steam locomotives of the historic Golden Age will debut alongside TSR's vintage diesel brigade throughout the summer season.
Ambling through the Piney Woods of East Texas pulled by a steam locomotive, the rail line is rich in history, linking small rural towns to the outside world and takes you back over a century to show how Texas was settled by rail. It's one of Texas' popular summertime event and it's a great outing for the family.
Starting Saturday, May 26 the Good ol' Gals of steam depart from the Palestine depot and will be based there through July. In August and September the steam trains will depart from the Rusk station.
