Attendees at the American Public Transportation Association's Expo in Atlanta will get the first look at TEXRail's self-propelled rail car this month.

The first Stadler "Flirt" Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU) rolled out of the plant in Salt Lake City and was bound for Atlanta where it goes on display October 8-11.


In 2015 the Fort Worth Transportation Authority awarded Stadler a $100 million contract to supply eight four-car trains for the TEXRail project. The line, currently under construction, opens in late 2018 and trains will run from downtown Fort Worth to Terminal B at DFW International Airport.

The 27 mile project is expected to connect with Dallas Area Rapid Transit's future Cotton Belt line that is projected to go from the airport to Plano, connecting northern Dallas county cities to two other DART light rail lines and buses.
