The head of the Federal Railroad Administration, Amit Bose, will give a keynote address during the 20th Annual Southwestern Rail Conference to be held in the Dallas-Fort Worth area April 15-16.

Its not just rail safety that the FRA concentrates on anymore. The role of the agency has been greatly expanded in the past decade to include agressively pursuing intercity passenger rail corridors, assessing high-hazard flammable car rail routing, a bevy of discrentionary grant programs and improving the movement of people and goods throughout the nation.

Texas Rail Advocates, host of the Southwestern Rail Conference, has asked FRA chief Bose to touch on a number of topics including how cities, counties and regions in Texas can access and benefit from the basket of rail grant programs that are avaiilable under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

The conference will again be held at the Hurst Conference Center in the heart of the DFW metroplex.

Additional presenters have recently been announced including

  • Railroad analyst Tony Hatch, who presides over the world famous RailTrends conference held in New York
  • Former Amtrak Chair and Chairman of Transportation For America, John Robert Smith
  • Southern Rail Commission Chair Knox Ross
  • Rail Division Director Jeff Davis from the Texas Departmenr of Transportation
