On Wednesday the Union Pacific rail bridge over the Brazos River in Richmond, was re-opened for train traffic.

The bridge had been out of service for 3 weeks after damage caused by the recent flooding of the river in Fort Bend County. A main support column was replaced in order to realign the track and allow for safe usage of the bridge.

In addition to freight rail traffic being rerouted around the damage area, passengers on Amtrak's Sunset Limited were subject to a detour using BNSF Railway lines near Houston.
